After the shocking death of FDR, Harry Truman rose to the Presidency and brought about the end of WWII. However, the expansion of Soviet influence, a flagging economy, and costly rebuilding efforts have dragged down Truman’s popularity. Will the Democrats go for a historic 4th term in the White House with Truman as their candidate? Can Thomas Dewey and the Republicans live up to overwhelming expectations? Can the Progressives and Dixiecrats put up strong showings? You decide!

your scenario is good in specifics but the country in 1948 the unemployment rate stood as 3.5 and 3.6 percent so the initial economy was strong and was good enough for Truman make his argument and you also needed to add governors and senators as endorsements you know if i had done this scenario
i would add Truman alot of momentum as the campaign draws to a close and the issue you needed to put was Inflation because all this data was out you just need to dig up more
oh just to help you can see for your self how the unemployment in the country really was http://www.google.com/publicdata/explore?ds=z1ebjpgk2654c1_&met_y=unemployment_rate&idim=country:US&fdim_y=seasonality:S&dl=en&hl=en&q=unemployment+rate+us but anyway you’ve done well
