2016 – United States presidential election in New England (Beta version)

Further to my 2016 Presidential Election in New Hampshire scenario, I decided to expand it to New England as a whole because the 10 counties in NH alone were too few to accurately handle the primaries.

This scenario allows you to battle 2016 in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont with state specific endorsers and accurate polling data for the GOP and Dem primaries (1 delegate per vote cast with 0% cut-off).

United States – 1988_V2

The 1988 campaign featured an open contest on both the Republican and Democratic sides, as Republican Pres. Ronald Reagan was entering the last year of his second term. Numerous contenders on the Democratic side entered the race. Commentators referred derisively to them as “The Seven Dwarfs.” They included former Arizona Gov. Bruce Babbitt, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis, Missouri Rep. Richard Gephardt, Tennessee Sen. Al Gore, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, and Illinois Sen. Paul Simon. Three candidates who were somewhat more inspiring had decided not to run: former senator Gary Hart of Colorado, who dropped out because of a sex scandal, reentered the race and then dropped out for good; Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy; and New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, who simply declined to run. The Republicans, seeking a candidate who could match the stature and electability of Reagan, were similarly at a loss. The nominal front-runner, George Bush, suffered from a reputation as a “wimp” who in 22 years of public life—as a former representative, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and, for more than seven years, Reagan’s vice president—had failed to distinguish himself as anything more than a docile instrument of someone else’s policy. There were three interesting Republican alternatives: Bob Dole of Kansas, the Senate minority leader, who was respected for his wit and intelligence though considered by some to be overly acerbic; former New York representative Jack Kemp, revered among many conservatives as Reagan’s true ideological heir; and the Rev. Pat Robertson, a popular televangelist. None of the three, however, made it through the primary season. With the Reagan era drawing to a close, the wide open race has top names both sides of the political spectrum running for the top job. Liberal and Conservative Reverends, Hawks and Doves in both parties, which way will America turn?

Please feel free to give feedback.

United States-2020 (v 2.0)

United States – 2020 (V 2.0)

After winning the 2016 in an upset, Trump faces some challenges from within the party and from outside of the party. The Democratic side is wide open after they experienced gains in Governorships and a wave that flipped the House despite losing seats in the Senate in 2018.

Version 2.0 (12/23/2018)

This is the first update I have posted in a long time.  This update is comprehensive.  I changed quite a few %’s and changed all endorsers to match the actual 116th Congress and new set of Governors. I have also shifted some candidates from off->on and on->off.  Democratic candidates that have now been added are Beto O’Rourke, Richard Ojeda, Jay Inslee, Sherrod Brown & Michael Bloomberg.  It’s still pretty rough around the edges, but it’s something.

2020 – The Libertarian Revolution 3.0

petersen_in_2020

UPDATE 11/9/16 So I’m not sure what I’ll wind up doing with this campaign.  Last night was, for me, a pleasant surprise.  I’m leaning at the moment with leaving the way it is, after all it is a fantasy scenario, and we have fictional Confederacy campaigns here, for Pete’s sake.  Alternatively, I would re-do the campaign with Trump as the incumbent, remove the Alt-Right party, the GOP becomes the “New Republican Party”, separate from the “Conservative Party” and the Establishment party with Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and their ilk.  Let me think on this for a few days.

Hi all!  This is my first published campaign.  I’ve seen all the campaigns for the present and past, but I was playing around with some scenarios and decided what the heck, let’s take a gaze into the crystal ball.  If Hillary Clinton got elected, we would, in my opinion be in for a very rough ride.  It’s times like those that Americans finally take notice and reject Progressivism, much like they did when 1920 brought in conservative president Warren Harding, along with Prohibition (ok so it wasn’t all good).  Please give me your feedback, I’ll be revising and making updates based on suggestions.  It’s my first published campaign ever so please be nice 🙂

Despite Gary Johnson’s loss in 2016, a strong showing in the popular vote has led to a nationwide rise in the Libertarian movement.  Many conservatives and former Republicans are now flocking to the Libertarian cause.

Hillary Clinton has had a disastrous four years and now more than ever Americans have woken up and demanded change.

There is now about a 20% nationwide following for the Libertarian Party.

Addition of the following Libertarain candidates to 2016 runner up Austin Petersen:
Congressman Dr. Rand Paul
Former Governor Mitt Romney
Actor and Comedians Drew Carey & Penn Jilette
News host Alex Jones

However the Bernie movement will not die quietly either.  There are equal calls from the left to bring down the Clinton machine too.  The former Green Party and Socialist movement have combined to form the new Globalist Party.  Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein are among the foremost candidates for this party that advocates sweeping global change, a new world order, and a global borderless society.

Among all this, the GOP is desperately trying to re-invent itself and becoming a true Constitutional Conservative party.  Texas’s own Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott are front-runners, but conservatives like Tom Cotton, Ben Sasse, and even Trey Gowdy are throwing their hats in too, as many moderate or socially-liberal Republicans have fled to the Democrat or Libertarian parties.

The issues of “Social Justice” and “Government Accountability” have been added.

UPDATE 9-18-2016

  • Modified polls & fixed error where Libertarian poll was not taking effect.
  • Added Breitbart News & Glenn Beck as interviewers.
  • New candidates:
    • GOP: Joe Walsh, Bob Corker, Chris Christie, Trey Gowdy
    • Libertarian: Adam Kokesh
  • New issues: Jobs, States Rights, Marijuana

UPDATE 10-20-2016

  • Republican party has spun off the Populist Nationalist (Trump, Christie, Sessions) and the Constitutional Conservative Parties (Cruz, Lee, Pence, Abbot, Sasse, Gowdy).  Moved
  • Democrat Party has spun off Globalist (Sanders, Stein) Party

1960: Kennedy V. Nixon. Version 3.2

1960-results

Download: United States – 1960 (v 3.2)

Incumbent President Dwight D. Eisenhower has become the first United States President to be term-limited.  His VP Richard Nixon has decided to run for the Republican nomination against a wide open Democratic field including the youthful Junior Senator from Massachusetts, John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

-There are many blank descriptions throughout

v 3.2 (11/22/2015)

  • Adjusted many of the percentages for the Democratic Primary
  • Fixed a bunch of added momentum at the state level of many states for a bunch of early endorsers.  This should fix some of the problem with a candidate winning a few early endorsements and ending up with a ton of momentum.

v 3.1 (10/29/2015)

  • Adjusts Decided/leaning/undecided splits
  • Fixes bug with South Dakota.  GOP numbers now showing up there correctly.

v 3.0 (10/28/2015)

  • Bug fixes
  • Adjusted money coefficient and fundraising coefficient
  • also adjusted the cost of ad creation and running ads

v 2.2 (7/24/2015)

  • Added> Dem>VP>Sen. Albert Gore, Sr.
  • Added>Dem>VP>Gov. Orville Freeman
  • Added>Rep>VP>Sec. Robert B. Anderson
  • Robert Meyner (Dem) is now “On”
  • Fixed bug in the code that was preventing a user from being able to create more Democratic VP choices.  (This was a code issue)

 v 2.1 (5/31/2015)

  • Fixed bug where neither party was able to poll above 0% in the General Election.

v 2.0 (4/24/2015)

  • Added > New Jersey Gov. Robert B. Meyner as Democratic Candidate (off)
  • Added > Businessman Paul C. Fisher as Democratic candidate (on, only on NH ballot)
  • George Bender > “On”
  • Barry Goldwater > “Off”
  • Added West Virginia Gov. Cecil H. Underwood as Republican Candidate (only on ballot in WV and NE)
  • Did with the GOP primaries what I did recently with the Dem primaries.  I took candidates off ballots that they were not on and adjusted a few of the numbers.

v 1.9 (4/23/2015)

  • PAC’s are now “off”
  • Fixed issue with election ending before polls closed in Alaska

v 1.8 (4/22/2015)

  • Removed more candidates from ballots, in the Democratic Primary< that they were not on.
  • Set all candidates not on a particular ballot to 0%
  • Added George H. Mclain as a candidate.  (California favorite son candidate)
  • Mclain and Brown are now the only two on the ballot in CA and the only two with percentages here to start

 v 1.7 (4/21/2015)

  • Added “Unpledged Democratic Electors”  (This is rough as the game engine doesn’t work well with this type of event)
  • Unpledged electors have Hary F. Byrd as leader and Strom Thurmond as vice leader
  • Added a “blurb” for Nixon
  • PIP’s now equal for both Nixon and Kennedy
  • Added Favorite son candidates DiSalle and Smathers.  They are only on in their home state
  • Took some candidates off of primary ballots that they were never on.
  • Blurbs for DiSalle and Smathers
  • Changed the map color for Brown from the matching color with Morse\
  • This is a continual work in progress.  I still need to add more potential candidates and favorite son candidates.  Tweak who is on the ballot on what state, fixing percentages.  Tidying up endorsers and adding bios to everyone in the game without them.

v 1.6 (4/21/2015)

  • Updated some of the starting numbers and tightened up the party preference voting and lowered undecideds to create a more realistic 1960 electorate.  (particularly in the south)
  • Johnson is now in the VP list for Kennedy.  (You don’t have to offer Johnson the VP slot once Kennedy reaches the delegate count during the convention.  You can now just chose him from the regular list)
  • George H. Bender is now “off”
  • Changed a couple of the issues to a more 1960 platform.  Now includes Kennedy’s Catholicism as well as a general “cold war” issue.  Also reworked the descriptions for Government Spending.
  • Removed “war on poverty issue” this was really a 1964 and on Johnson thing.
  • Upped Kennedy’s Charisma and dropped his experience a bit.

v 1.5 (1/14/2015)

  • Updates delegate count for all 50 states plus DC in both parties.
  • Primary dates updated
  • State which had primaries had dates in the game for FPP primaries.
  • All other states have PR “primaries” that take place on the day before nomination during the respective party’s convention.

v 1.4 (12/22/2014)

  • Adds Fmr. Sen. George H. Bender as GOP candidate from Ohio.
  • Fixes endorsement issue where LBJ and Symington were being duplicated and endorsing themselves.
  • Fixed Spelling of “Symington”
  • Fixed Spelling of “Senator” on LBJ’s title
  • Slight change in Ohio numbers for GOP primaries to accommodate for Bender as a candidate.

v 1.3 (12/19/2014)

  • Fixes party conventions
  • Democratic: Chicago -> Los Angeles
  • GOP: Miami Beach -> Chicago
  • Dates fixed to July dates that conventions occurred on.

v 1.2 (12/16/2014)

  • fixed a few more primary numbers on both sides
  • Added Harry Belafonte as national endorser
  • The Tonight Show changed from “With Johnny Carson” to with “Jack Paar”
  • Sammy Davis, Jr. is now a national endorser

v 1.1 (12/15/2014)

  •  adds a slew of new endorsers including Henry Fonda, Sammy Davis, Jr, Eleanor Roosevelt, New York Post, etc.  Also added Marilyn Monroe as a surrogate for Kennedy.
  • Two of the favorite son candidates for the Dem. nomination are now on the ballot in their home states

Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated.  Just keep in mind that there are a slew of things that still need to be fixed here, but the spine of the scenario is in place and ready for a test run.
