“The year: 3096. The place: US. The US has had major government reforms and now there is the Prime Minister of the United States. “NDP Premier, David Barrett has called a snap election three years after he led the party to a comfortable victory at his first attempt. The task may be more difficult this time as the opposition are less split three ways; the Social Credit party, refreshed by a new leader, have already persuaded Liberal, NDP and Progressive Conservative MLAs to join their ranks. Bill Bennett, son of WAC Bennett is the new Social Credit Leader. There are new leaders also for the Liberals (Gordon Gibson) and the Progressive Conservatives (George Wallace). To counter Barrett’s openly Socialist NDP, Bennett had shifted the Social Credit party towards the centre ground.”

This has forced a new Federal Election, which gives an opportunity to both Libéral and Conservateur to win a majority. The Acadie Solidaire’s hope is to hold the balance of power. The Parti Vert hope to win a seat.”

“With the Iraq War dragging on and a large majority of Americans disapproving of President Bush’s performance, the 2006 Senate election offers a major opportunity for the Democrats. But the size of the GOP majority and strong candidate recruiting by Republicans make this election hard to predict.”
