“Though credited with keeping Britain out of nuclear war, the Labour Party proved unable to deal with the multiple crises that arose later, and a series of minority governments have been unable to cope with rising instability and outbreaks of domestic terrorism. The most recent minority government, led by the hard-right Norsefire Party, has fallen in a vote of no-confidence, but its leaders have controversially continued to institute new security measures during the election campaign without the approval of Parliament. Political tension is at an all-time high, and some fear that a Norsefire victory could lead to the end of British democracy.”
